New Pioneers offers a variety of nature-based learning experiences for all ages, including:
Pre-K-12 School Visits
New Pioneers brings sustainability to the classroom and schoolyard with relevant lessons, discussions, and projects. Depending on availability, programs can be scheduled on their own, as a series, or as part of a school event.
Student Service Experiences
New Pioneers brings community service to the forefront with experiences designed for high school students and above (including college level). Alongside our trained educators, students can support ecosystem health by "getting their hands dirty" and giving back to the community; all the while observing a grassroots organization inspiring systemic change.
Summer Field Trips
New Pioneers hosts outdoor summer enrichment programming for school groups, co-ops, and communities upon request. We're grateful to be able to host field trip visits at the nearby Loretto Motherhouse or Nazareth Motherhouse in Marion and Nelson County, respectively. We're also able to do public park field trips anywhere!
4-H Partnerships
In partnership with the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and County Cooperative Extension Offices, New Pioneers has co-led 4-H clubs such as the Nelson County 4-H Stream Team, in which members test water quality and work to protect the local watershed. If your 4-H club or leader is interested in partnering, reach out!
Community Events and Outreach
New Pioneers gratefully participates in community events and other outreach efforts, like providing kid-friendly booth activities at the Springfield Sorghum Festival and the Loretto Farm Back to School Ag. Bash.
Adult Education and Opportunities
New Pioneers has a rich history of educating adults through book studies, educational forums, and more. We are in the process of reviving some adult-focused opportunities, and we're deeply interested in what YOU would like to see. Please reach out if interested in collaborating!
