Youth Programs

Youth Programs

New Pioneers offers a variety of nature-based learning experiences for children and their families, including:

Pre-K-12 School Visits
New Pioneers brings sustainability to the classroom and schoolyard with relevant lessons, discussions, and projects. Depending on availability, programs can be scheduled on their own, as a series, or as part of a school event.

Summer Field Trips
Thanks to support from the Kentucky Environmental Education Council and Office of the Lt. Governor, New Pioneers hosts outdoor summer enrichment programming for Pre-K-12 students at the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and Loretto Motherhouse campuses.

Nelson County 4-H Stream Team
In partnership with the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and the Nelson County Cooperative Extension Office, New Pioneers co-leads the Nelson County 4-H Stream Team, in which members test water quality and work to protect the local watershed.

Community Events and Outreach
New Pioneers participates in community events and other outreach efforts, like providing kid-friendly booth activities at the Springfield Sorghum Festival and Loretto Farm Back to Ag. Bash, and co-hosting student BioBlitz programs at Loretto.
