Our tri-county region includes three farmers markets, each featuring a hearty selection of fresh produce, flowers, and other goods.

Battery Recycling

Battery Recycling
Recycle household batteries at the New Pioneers office, Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Batteries accepted:

  • Alkaline
  • Nickel cadmium (NiCad)
  • Nickel-metal hydride (NiMH)
  • Lithium metal, with less than 25 grams of lithium content *
  • Lithium ion, with less than 300 watt-hours of rated capacity *

*Most consumer-style lithium metal and lithium ion batteries fall within these size limitations, including lithium metal AA & AAA cells, lithium metal button cells, and rechargeable lithium ion batteries used in laptops, cell phones, and power tools.

Though options vary between counties, local residents can drop-off recyclable items at three
locations. Please check acceptable items first.

Accepts: Plastic drink bottles and food containers (#1 and #2), aluminum, cardboard and steel cans (must be clean). 
Curbside recycling services are also available through Marion County Public Works.

No curbside recycling available.

Join New Pioneers on the second Wednesday of each month for the "Sustainable Solutions" radio segment on WOKH 102.7 FM "The Rocket", where New Pioneers' staff and community partners discuss sustainability tips, ideas, and local events.
