"Where the Wild Things Are" Day Camp!

New Pioneers, in proud partnership with the Loretto Community, joyfully hosted our inaugural summer day camp this June, "Where the Wild Things Are" - and what a wild success it was! Over the course of an unforgettable week, forty bright and adventurous campers, ages six to twelve, joined us for an immersive outdoor education experience designed to inspire, educate, and empower the next generation of environmental stewards.

Throughout the week, campers explored the wonders of the natural world, venturing into "wild" spaces and discovering local species as they worked toward becoming certified "Nature Nurturers". Each day offered a new theme: Grasslands, Woodlands, Farmland, Wetlands, and Embracing Stewardship, providing a diverse and engaging framework for exploration and learning.

From hayrides and nature scavenger hunts to hands-on crafts and meaningful service projects, campers experienced the joy of outdoor adventure while deepening their understanding of the environment. The week also sparked curiosity, built confidence in navigating the outdoors, and cultivated a spirit of gratitude and responsibility toward the Earth and our shared communities.

We are incredibly thankful for the opportunity to guide and grow with these young environmental champions. New Pioneers extends heartfelt appreciation to our dedicated team of instructors and volunteers, our generous sponsors and donors, and the wonderful families and campers who made this inaugural experience so impactful. Together, we are nurturing a future rooted in sustainability, connection, and care.
