Upstream, Downstream: A Community Oral History of the Beech Fork Watershed is an ongoing project that aims share the history of our region according to the people who call it home. Our community is full of natural storytellers, and this is a chance to bring our stories together – so that we may all enjoy them and leave a valuable record for future generations.
The Upstream, Downstream project is supported by a grant from the Kentucky Oral History Commission, and is sponsored by the Kentucky Waterways Alliance, Loretto Community, and the Washington County Public Library.
Many thanks to our interviewees for sharing their stories, and our volunteers who have assisted in the collection of these stories.
Recorded interviews continue to be cataloged and transcribed. If you are interested in participating in our review process and/or developing plans for a community reveal, please reach out to our office via phone or email at info@newpioneers.org.
In the meantime, please enjoy these story segments:
