New Pioneers was delighted to lead the "Teen Hangout" at the Nelson County Public Library this July!

During this fun-filled afternoon, fifteen teens joined us to learn about nature and junk journaling. We started by creating our own journals, decorating the covers, and folding mini "zines" with journaling resources.

Then, we went for a walk around the library to make our first observations for our journals! Teens picked up litter on site, collected natural items that had fallen to the ground, and identified plants and bugs we spotted during this stroll.

Once we arrived back inside, teens began to fill their journals, using recycled paper, natural materials, stamps, stickers, and more. This activity helped participants discover a new, unique way to connect with nature, spark their creativity, and reduce everyday waste!
