STEM Mentorship Program!

This September, New Pioneers joined the Rose Dodson STEM Mentorship Program, which aims to create opportunities for young people to become future leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics!

During this lively program, sixty 3rd and 4th-grade students came together to explore water. At New Pioneers' station, they modeled how all water users in a community must communicate and work together to meet water needs effectively. This was simulated through a game of working together to carry a can of water down a "river" and through the obstacles of drought, floods, and pollution. This activity also led to discussions on why water is important and how we can protect and conserve it!

These activities help students practice and improve soft STEM skills, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, creativity, and collaboration, while also deepening their relationship and understanding of nature.

New Pioneers was delighted to join Bardstown Elementary Students at this program, and we look forward to future endeavors to provide environmental education to our local community! We thank all who made this opportunity possible.
