Staff transitions: Celebrating Lana’s service to New Pioneers!

As Winter turns to Spring and we prepare for an exciting season of education, demonstration, and advocacy in the year to come, this season carries another transition in the New Pioneers office as we wish our friend and colleague, Lana Gits, all the best in her adventures beyond New Pioneers. After five years of dedicated service, Lana has moved on from New Pioneers, leaving behind a rich legacy of office and programmatic support as our Administrative Coordinator. Lana’s last day was Tuesday, March 20, 2024.

In her time with New Pioneers, Lana reflected that she most enjoyed meeting the different supporters, board members, volunteers, and others connected to the mission of New Pioneers. Lana shared that she learned many things from working with New Pioneers, ranging from learning new computer programs to learning the need to protect farmland for the future, to learning “the many ways in which a person can learn to recycle, reduce and reuse!”.

Overall, Lana shared that over the last five years, “I have seen many challenges and changes, both for myself and the organization.  In my role as Administrative Coordinator, I feel honored and proud to have been given the responsibility to hold down the fort for New Pioneers.”

We celebrate Lana’s contributions to New Pioneers and the impact that continues to grow from her work and efforts. During her time as Administrative Coordinator, Lana supported the organization of many events, including our annual Empty Bowl Supper and Green Festival; communicated regularly with members and volunteers; and maintained our office organization and presence, often “holding down the fort” as a reliable member of our small staff team. For all this and more, we thank you, Lana!

Join us in thanking Lana for her work and wishing her well as she pursues joy and her passions moving forward. We celebrate her gifts and look forward to continuing to steward New Pioneers into a rich future, together.
