There are many “Climate Heroes” in our region and state, and this April, New Pioneers was fortunate to be recognized as one of them.

Eleven individuals and organizations, including New Pioneers and our foundress, Dominican Sister of Peace Claire McGowan, were honored within the first Isaac Wolfe Bernheim Climate Hero Awards.

Sister Claire’s contributions and legacy were especially highlighted in the awards ceremony on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Bernheim Research Forest and Arboretum’s annual RESTORE event.

New Pioneers’ Board member Jessie Rathburn was also recognized as an awardee for her work in helping to establish the Carbon Reduction Fund and encourage renewable energy practices at the Sisters of Loretto Motherhouse in Loretto, KY.
