Native Planting Guide

What and why?

A native plant is a plant that has evolved and grown naturally in a specific region or ecosystem for thousands of years. Native plants support wildlife, preserve biodiversity, and help maintain healthy soil.

Non-native species, particularly those classified as "invasive," are considered bad because they can disrupt the delicate balance of an ecosystem by outcompeting native species for resources, leading to declines in native populations, altering food webs, and potentially causing ecosystem collapse.

Removing non-native species and replacing them with native plants is a great step towards a happier, healthier planet!
