Introducing Our New Board Members!

New Pioneers is excited to announce the addition of SIX NEW BOARD MEMBERS to our crew! These lovely members bring our Board of Directors to a total of fourteen individuals with unique backgrounds and a passion for a healthier future. We are so grateful for our new and recurring Board Members who help us carry out our mission of educating, demonstrating, and advocating for sustainability in our local communities.

Angela Rakes

"As a mother, farmer, and Education & Outreach Coordinator for the Loretto Motherhouse, care for Earth has always been a core value of mine. I am excited to join the board of New Pioneers to continue working with this organization to make a positive impact in our communities. "

Cheryl Coleman

"I’m Cheryl Coleman, I grew up in rural western Ky and moved to Bardstown 2 years ago. I’m excited to become a part of such a motivated and passionate community of people who are committed to making our earth a healthier place for everyone."

Cole Alexander

Cole currently is part of the grounds team at Nazareth, leading on-site composting, and is enrolled in the Regenerative Agriculture Academy. Cole has an extensive background with all things soil, coining the term, “Soil Mystic” due to his background stewarding Bernheim’s Edible Garden, completing the Foundation Series in the Soil Food Web School, and so much more!

Elliot Newland

Elliott is originally from Louisville but has called Bardstown home for 11 years. He attended Jefferson Community College and studied Sociology. Elliott is the Membership & Programs Coordinator for the Bardstown Chamber of Commerce and leads their Young Professionals and Ambassador programs. He enjoys meeting new people, hosting parties, and spending quality time with friends and family.

Johnnie Baum

"I am the Chief Financial Officer of Lebanon Water Works Company and Springfield Water and Sewer Commission.  I am honored to serve and look forward to getting involved in efforts that teach sustainability and what it truly means to love our planet."

Kim Nance

"As a new board member of New Pioneers, I am excited about being an advocate for sustainable living and dedicated to promoting environmental initiatives within our community. I am thrilled to serve and give back to a community that I cherish deeply.
