New Pioneers had the delight of leading the Nelson County Public Library's "Homeschool Hangout" this March! During this hangout, students engaged in interactive lessons about our changing seasons. This included participating in a hands-on experiment of our Sun, investigating late signs of winter, searching for clues of spring, and imagining how our holidays may differ if they occurred in other seasons!
Similarly to other New Pioneers' environmental education programs, Homeschool Hangouts help fulfill our mission of promoting sustainability in rural communities by equipping our youth with a connection to and understanding of our natural environment. As we know, a good relationship with nature is the first step in environmental literacy!
Thank you to the NCPL for partnering with us on this unique experience! New Pioneers looks forward to many more Homeschool Hangouts and environmental programs.
