This May, New Pioneers partnered with the Loretto Community and Marion County Extension Office 4-H to offer Head Start students an engaging and fun-filled field trip to the Loretto Motherhouse Farm!

Students started the morning with a wagon ride to Lake Mary, led by Farmer Cody on the tractor. Then, participated in a variety of interactive nature songs with Mr. Michael, New Pioneers' Board chair. These songs allowed students to learn about local wildlife, move their bodies, and connect with nature.
Next, students went on a "Rainbow in Nature Hike" with New Pioneers around the lake. During this walk, students and parents were on the hunt for each color of the rainbow through observations of flowers, birds, leaves, rocks, wildlife, bugs, and more!
After lunchtime, students rotated and got to enjoy butter making, farm animal bowling, planting sunflowers, and meeting goats with the Loretto Community and 4-H.
This Head Start Field Trip was such a fantastic opportunity for local pre-schoolers to get in touch with nature and learn about local wildlife, plants, and farm animals. Thank you to the Loretto Community and Marion County Head Start for this awesome day!
