New Pioneer's Community Educator, Ivoree, had the opportunity to attend an Environmental Education Bootcamp hosted by the Kentucky Association for Environmental Education (KAEE) this July! This experience allowed Ivoree to become familiar with the curriculum of Project Learning Tree, Project WET, and Project WILD. This curiculum includes a lot of great envrionmental education tools and activities, which Ivoree is excited to share with the community!
This professional development experience also gave Ivoree new insight on applying envrionmental education to both formal and nonformal classrooms. She got the unique opportunity to experience lessons from the learned curriculum as a student and a teacher. As well as an opportunity to become familiar with the Kentucky Academic Standards, which can be applied to the content that Ivoree is now certified to teach!
New Pioneer's staff is continually looking for ways to expand our knowledge in order to better educate sustainability within our community and stay connected with community partners. Ivoree, New Pioneers' Community Educator, is very grateful for this professional development opportunity and cannot wait to apply her newly learned skills to future programs!
