New Pioneers Board of Directors and staff members joined together in a day-long retreat at Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest on Thursday, February 15, 2024 to connect, strengthen organizational ties, and align New Pioneers’ work with our strategic plan.

This year’s board retreat included some nature-themed icebreakers and team building activities, meant to (re)connect board and staff members to each other and the natural world - including playing “sustainable bingo” and exploring Bernheim’s meditation trail. The time for play allowed all to refresh and align!

Board and staff members also discussed the organization’s progress toward our strategic plan goals and continued important organizational visioning work. Highlights of the day included sharing “key nature memories”, reflecting on our connections to New Pioneers over time, and advancing the work of our restructured board committees.
