New Pioneers had a fantastic time at the annual Sorghum Festival in downtown Springfield this October! During this lively weekend, New Pioneers connected with the community through interactive games to learn more about nature and discussions about our work and mission.

Our hands-on activities included Name That Bird, Pelt Detective, and Health and Wellness Jeopardy: Nature Edition. In Name That Bird, attendees were presented with four local bird plushies and were asked to guess the species based on their song and fun facts. During Pelt Detective, local forest animals were identified by feeling our fur pelts and reading our clues. Our version of Jeopardy offered a unique way for adults to learn about the mental, physical, and planetary benefits that come with time spent in nature.
Each of these activities allowed attendees to deepen their knowledge of local wildlife and the perks of green time! Attendees were also informed about what New Pioneers is, our mission, and upcoming events, helping to grow our network of changemakers.
We thank the Washington County Chamber of Commerce for including us in this wonderful festival weekend, and each guest who stopped by the New Pioneers' booth!
