New Pioneers had the exciting opportunity to take part in Spirit of the Wild Day Camp with the Nazareth Retreat Center this July. Students had a full day of outdoor fun through exploring Nazareth's ecology, meditating in nature, creating art, and learning about mindfulness! This was a great opportunity for students to become immersed in and connect their senses to nature!
During this eventful day of camp, New Pioneers' created and led an Ecosystem Energy Scavenger Hunt! Along this hunt, students learned about how energy is transferred through the ecosystem within the food chain, and gained insight about the roles of organisms and how they are very important to maintaining a healthy ecosystem. Students got to partake in this hunt at Nazareth's Community Garden and the creek, and they had some awesome finds! Students had an absolute BLAST being explorers in nature!
Huge thanks to the Nazareth Retreat Center and all the wonderful volunteers who made this day possible! We can't wait for another WILD time at camp next year!
